If your Subscript instance is integrated to Quickbooks, we can write to custom fields in your invoices from your customers or transactions information.
Example of popular custom fields in Quickbooks are PO Number and Sales Rep name, but any field relevant to your invoices can be added (just note the limitations in the end of this article!).
To enable that, there are only two steps:
- Create the custom fields in your Quickbooks instance (QBO documentation)
- Map the custom fields to be written in Subscript, under Settings > Quickbooks > Manage custom fields, then Add custom field

Limitations
- Quickbooks only returns the first 3 custom fields created via the API (that Subscript can access to enable this in your invoices), even if they’re disabled in QBO. So if you’re creating a 4th field specifically for Subscript, it won’t appear to be configured. Please reuse one of the first 3 fields created in QBO for that.
- Quickbooks only allows 30 chars maximum in these custom fields. If the information you’re trying to write is longer than that, truncate it in the invoice page beforehand, or ask our Data Solutions team to get that truncated for you in case this comes from your CRM.
